My Dog Saved My Life

I was diagnosed with a brain tumor 2 years ago after an MRI I had because of a bike accident. In that two years I began having seizures. I took meds to keep them under control, but still had them from time to time. A couple of months ago I replied to an add here in the pet section for a job at a grooming shop. I got the job and loved it.

My boss breeds standard show poodles and had puppies at the time (still does in fact). I talked my husband into letting me get one, and I brought home a beautiful black boy. We got him as just a pet, with no thought in mind about him being a service dog, well he had other plans.

A week and a half ago I came down with what I thought was the flue and remained in bed upstairs for most of the day. When I awoke that evening I descided to make my way downstairs to put something in my tummy. When I came out of my bed room, slightly dizzy, my dog started barking at me! I thought maybe I looked so terrible he didn't recognize me. As I made my way towards the stair, he continued to bark and stand in front of me to block me going down the stairs. Thinking he just wanted to play since he was by my bed all day, I pushed him out of the way and at that moment, I had a seizure. I fell down the stairs, but he followed me, stood over me and started barking very loudly to get the attention of my family.

He knew before I did that I was going to have a seizure. He had layed by my bed the whole day before the accident, watching over me, he knew the whole time! So he made himself my service dog. He is my angel, my savior, my ever present watch dog and friend. I am so thankful for him, aside from saving my life, he has always been the best puppy I have ever had.

Such a good listener and so incredibly smart. Most of that is thanks to the amazing breeding done by my boss Sue, at End Results Grooming. But more than anything, it's this wonderful breed, the standard Poodle, that has time and time again been called the smartest breed around. They also don't shed, have no dander, and are GREAT retrievers and duck hunting dogs. Even my husband, who wanted a rottweiler instead, LOVES this dog. He is the BEST EVER!!!!
